1958-1964
Moved to a two bedroom house and then to a three bedroom house.
1962
Warner Robins Jaycees started a project to build a school
building. Enrollment was 17, ages six to eighteen.

Building completed and furnished. Completely debt free
through the efforts of the Jaycees and the community. The City
donated land, a lot of building materials were donated and
volunteers did much of the labor.
1966
Two classrooms and an assembly room added. Again, this was
spearheaded by the Jaycees and was completely paid for when
finished.
1968
The decision was made that we need a vocational type workshop.
A foundation gave us $75,000 on the condition that we raise $25,000
and they would give $25,000. After we raised the second $25,000,
they said they were convinced that we could finish the building and
gave us the last $25,000.

Again, completely furnished and paid for by the community.
This included a cafeteria.

of Human Resources.

1976
A new Wing with four classrooms, speech therapy room, and a new
modern kitchen and dining room were added to the school (Jay Ryals'
Annex), another community effort.
1983
Purchased 29.6 acres of land adjacent to our property that had
been declared surplus by Robins Air Force Base.
1985
Completed Happy Hour Workshop II (McCannon Building). This was
partially financed by a loan from the SBA for $150,000. This
loan has been paid in full. The balance of the cost was raised
through the Association efforts and the community.
1984 – 1986
Refurbished the dormitory building located on the property
purchased from the government. This building is leased to the
Phoenix Center and provided a source of income to the Association.

These were funded by a grant from HUD and each one has four
